HALLECK BAR PARTY

POSTPONED Elko Rodeo In an effort to help curb the COVID-19 virus, we are postpoining the Halleck Bar Party. Please visit our website, social media pages, or call the Front Desk for updates. You are cordially invited to the most raucous and woolly wild west affair in Elko County. Dress in your best rodeo attire--hats, chaps, lassos, and spurs encouraged! The best costume wins the evening’s grand prize. Let the celebration begin! Enjoy music, libations, hors d’oeuvres, paella, and a silent auction with the toast of the town. Each year, we commemorate the Halleck Bar, which was donated to the Museum by the Glaser Family and Chach Evans. The stipulation for us to keep the bar is that we must have an annual party and a toast with Beefeater Gin. The Halleck Bar Party is one of Northeastern Nevada Museum’s most important fundraisers. All donations directly support the Museum and its projects. $20 donation per member appreciated. $25 donation per non-member.
GREAT HUMBOLDT DUCK RACE Tentative Date: July 24th at 9 a.m. Ducks will be dumped from 12th St. bridge. Finish line is at 9th St. bridge. As the Museum’s biggest fundraiser, the Great Humboldt Duck Race has become one of Elko’s unique family events. Every year thousands of little rubber duckies are adopted by supporters of the Museum and then dumped into the Humboldt River, where they race to the finish line. The quickest duck wins its adopter $1,500 cash.
CLASSIC FILM FESTIVAL 2020 CANCELLED See which classic films showed in Elko theaters years ago. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks to the city park behind the museum where we project vintage films onto the back of the museum building. Shows start at dusk. August 7 - Father Goose 1964 (Cary Grant and Leslie Caron) August 14 - State Fair 1945 (Jeanne Crain, Dana Andrews, Dick Haymes) Free admission.
