HALLECK BAR PARTY

MAY 10, 2019 Known as the best cocktail party in Elko for the past 40+ years, members and friends with a glass of Beefeater gin, drink a toast to the acquisition of the antique bar and back bar from a saloon in the once wild and woolly nearby town of Halleck.  With an abundance of good company, good food, and of course, good gin, it is the best way to celebrate local history and culture.  The public is invited to join in celebrating a part of our local history.  The date for the next Halleck Bar Party is May 10, 2019 (6:00 – 9:00 pm).  We will celebrate with an “Old West” theme, live entertainment, and a silent auction!  Don’t forget to dress in costume for a chance to win the evening’s grand prize.
GREAT HUMBOLDT DUCK RACE July 27 at 9 a.m. Ducks will be dumped from 12th St. bridge. Finish line is at 9th St. bridge. The museum’s biggest fundraiser, the Great Humboldt Duck Race has become one of Elko’s unique family events.  Every year thousands of little rubber duckies are adopted by supporters of the museum and then dumped into the Humboldt River, where they race to the finish line.  The quickest duck wins its adopter $1,500 cash and all the pride and prestige that come with sweet victory.
CLASSIC FILM FESTIVAL 2018 See which classic films showed in Elko theaters. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks to the city park behind the museum where we project vintage films onto the back of the museum building. Free admission (donations welcome). Shows start at dusk. The featured film this year was shown in Elko in 1968: August 17 at dusk - Yours, Mine, and Ours (Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda)
