ART OF THE WEST RECEPTION

January 30, 2018 from 6 - 8 p.m.

Halleck Bar Gallery

Our annual Art of the West reception highlights the artist that is featured in the Halleck Bar Gallery during the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. This year, we are honored to exhibit Billy Schenck, a well-known contemporary artist who specializes in western landscape and cowboy pop art. Join us for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails at the Halleck Bar, and mingle with our artist. Every year, the Northeastern Nevada Museum purchases one work of art from the Art of the West show. If you are a member of the Great Basin Western Art Foundation, you have the opportunity to vote on which piece will be added to the museum collection. Visit www.museumelko.org to learn how you can become a part of the Great Basin Western Art Foundation.
The Northeastern Nevada Museum’s Barrick Gallery will feature select works and new works by emerging local artist, Myles Crouch during this year’s Art of the West Show. Crouch is a gifted bead and ledger artist. He has shown his work at local galleries and has exhibited in New Mexico and Montana as early as the age of 14. He grew up watching his mother paint, spending many hours immersed in the art world with his family traveling to different art shows. His love for drawing is expressed in the form of storytelling in Native American Ledger Art. Crouch’s work is vibrant and full of multicolored suns and playful ceremonial dancers.
